LOONG LEYI

Hey there! I'm Loong Leyi, otherwise known as Rey. I am an 18 year old Malaysian born and raised in the busy streets of Kuala Lumpur. I'm a person who finds comfort in listening to her favorite songs when she feels stressed or needs something to loosen her shoulders a bit. I would definitely consider myself to be more of an introvert, and you'd find me choosing the comfort of my own home instead of spending my weekends out with friends. I am also currently pursuing my diploma in Mass Communications at IACT College.

To be very honest, I've always found photography to be something that I viewed as a small past-time hobby, and I never really spent my time in making my pictures look somewhat decent; that is until I started learning photography during this semester. Through these 12 weeks of lectures, my interest in photography has grown and I'd find myself trying to catch good lighting and angles while taking pictures of even the most random things.

ELEMENT OF COLOUR

LUMIX GX9 | Kwai Chai Hong, KL

This picture was taken as a submission for my first ever assignment for photography class. I was walking around Kwai Chai Hong with my friends, taking random pictures for our assignment when I stumbled upon this wall with a bunch of vintage styled window frames. The frames had quite an interesting colour scheme; different shades of blue with a few touches of grey in between. I found it really interesting so I took a picture of it without much thought, and it turned out looking so much better than i thought it would.

JOURNALISM

LUMIX GX9 | PETALING STREET, KL

I was on my way to find spots to take pictures for my assignment when I saw a bunch of paintings being hung on display infront of this one tea shop. Infront of the tea shop, I saw an elder man sitting on the bench with a bunch of poster colours layed out beside him. His paintings really grabbed my interest, he used a canvas that I had not seen much people use. Instead of the usual paper, he used an old book as his canvas. He was also a very nice man! Prior to taking this picture, I had asked for his permission to have his picture taken.

PORTRAITURE

IPHONE 11 | MODEL: @5ft5cm on IG

Due to the increasing cases of COVID-19 in our country, I found it difficult to go around to take pictures for my second assignment - Portraiture. However, my cousin was more than willing to travel to my house and help me out. As Halloween was inching near, we had chosen something scary as our theme.

The story that I was trying to tell through my picture is

" A bunny being used just for show " Other than the outfit, the makeup also takes significance in our theme as it can be seen as deceitful tears.

I have certainly grown to love photography through this class, and i'm still constantly trying to improve my skills as a photographer.

Feel free to check out my works throughout this whole semester!
