My name is Gregory Ho. I am an 18 year old who lives and grew up in Petaling Jaya. Ever since I was a small kid, my interest was inclined more towards working in the filming industry and also in the live audio industry. However, I have always kept photography as my hobby.
After getting my first DSLR camera in 2015, I started to learn more about photography and that drove me to start becoming a photographer for my youth group inn my church whenever I could. Throughout my time there, I have always pushed myself to take better and better photos. But now with this photography class, I get to learn a lot more about how to take better photographs.
This photo on the right was photographed for my first assignment as shapes.
I chose this photo because it not only fits the description, but also it shows the wonder of architecture and engineering. I have always found architecture very fascinating because of all it unique shapes and designs.
This next photo was taken for my second assignment under journalism.
This particular location is JJ Budget Restaurant in Taman Mayang. This restaurant has a variety of Chinese hawker food which are sold with a base price of RM 5. The goal is to cater good wholesome meals for the lowest price possible which makes it affordable for people that cannot afford a good meal.
My intention for taking these photos for journalism was to show a day in the life of a hawker restaurants. These people who work and cook everyday to keep people fed are the most underlined heroes.
This photo was taken for my second assignment which was advertising.
Product photography may seem simple but isn't. I learnt that the hard way but through this experience, I got to try and learn something new about this kind of photography and how every little piece of detail plays a big role in photos. Getting the lighting and setting correct of the perfect shot is not as easy as it seems.
This photo took me a while to get everything right. However, since I was working with chocolate, there was not much room for error because of the short time frame to work with it. Even with this problem, I am still satisfied with experience that came with this project.
