A testament to my journey as an ever-growing photographer
Hi! My name is Ricky, but you can just call me Ricky! For those of you who have met me, you'd know me as that bubbly, curly-haired Filipino boy. For those of you who haven't met me, let me tell you a little more about myself! Yes, I'm purely Filipino, but I was born and raised here in Malaysia. I'm turning 19 this year, and I've spent 18 of those years growing with a loving family and amazing friends.

Throughout my life, visualizing creative ideas has always been a habit of mine. Rarely would I ever have an empty mind, as it would always be racing with new concepts and ideas. They do get pretty random at times, but I always manage to find something useful in my messy brain. Photography has offered me a platform to visualize the ideas and concepts that I want to portray. It's allowed me to create stories and express my thoughts in captivating ways.
Here are little bits and pieces of the photos that I've taken the past few months, each one exploring different elements and techniques. With Ms. Ain's help, I've found myself able to grow in the art of photography, giving me a chance to push myself to greater creative feats.
WEAVED COLORS

This piece represents one of God's most wondrous gifts to us: seeing colors. It's a privilege that not everyone can enjoy, so it's important for us to truly appreciate the colors that our eyes see. How the yarn tied in the photo portrays how God has carefully crafted each pigment, while the contrasting colored rocks portray how harmony is achievable in all colors. The picture only includes these colorful objects, hoping to achieve a sense of intimacy while appreciating the beauty of colors.
FALLING MARBLES

In messy situations, it helps to stop for a second to see things from better perspectives. This photo is an ode to that fact. Taken with a high shutter speed, this image manages to capture an arrangement of marbles suspended in the air, rather than on the ground. It's a perspective that we're not usually familiar with, offering a rather interesting sight for the eyes. The way the photo is zoomed in also aims to create a sense of intimacy as the viewer sees a frozen moment before their eyes.
GARDEN GIRL

Just like myself, my sister has always been a bubbly, cheerful person. At the same time, she's bright and always ready to grow. She reminds me of how trees grow to become beautiful beings. These portraits attempt to capture my sister's floral personality, utilizing trees and plants as a fitting backdrop. The monotonous green in the backgrounds help my sister stand out in the photos, while the images are color-corrected to emphasize the tone of her bubbly expressions.
SMOOTH, FRAGRANT, RICH

Taken in the comfort of a bedroom, this photo aims to create intimacy between the viewer and the product. The product is the main focus of this image, supported by decorations such as flower petals and golden roses atop a silk cloth. The silk cloth supports the fact that this product can keep hairs looking smooth and silky, while the flowers represent the fragrance and vibrancy that the product can offer. A sufficient amount of space was left on the top half of the photo, hoping to emphasize the selling points of this product.
The journey that this class has offered me was an unforgettable one, and I hope to carry the lessons I've learnt here further in my journey to being a better photographer. That's all from me, thanks for the read!
