Hello there, welcome to my blog! I'm Denisha Vaghasia! I'm a Mass Communication student at IACT College who's in her 2nd year! I love anything and everything in the art field including photography as it gives me the freedom to express myself, feelings and create memories through a picture; it holds so much meaning in my eyes. Well, let's go back in time, shall we? When I was 10, my mother got an Olympus Tough-6020 and there began my fascination with cameras. Fast forward 5 years, my grandfather had gifted two of his cameras to my sister and me, so I used them to take pictures of my loved ones and surroundings.
In photography class, the topic of 'Portraiture' caught my attention as I love photographing other people. So there I went, recruiting my friends to model for me in my free time to apply what I learnt in class and brush up on my skills! Capturing their emotions in a picture and making them feel confident is something that brings me joy. So with no further ado, here are my 5 best photos taken throughout this semester! Enjoy!
SADNESS

Sadness, in my opinion, is such a beautiful emotion. I have always found the act of crying to be mesmerizing. For instance, many would say they look unsightly, however, I'd say otherwise. You're wearing your true emotions on your face; whatever facade you had going on before is now long gone. The main focus of this picture is definitely the model's eyes followed by the striking colours of her outfit and flowers.
RELIANCE

Space? The element of space has to be hands down my favourite. So little shown yet so much meaning. I love nature and the sky; since it was a bright and sunny day, I decided to use my little plant as my subject! There is a subtle relationship in this shot whereby the plant needs the sun to survive and vice versa. Hence, one cannot survive without the other.
ROLE MODEL

My father is one of my biggest inspirations. His hard work and sacrifices have me appreciating everything he has done for me throughout my life. He never fails to keep me going and motivated. Although some fights tend to occur from time to time, I still love him with all my heart. One day, I caught him washing his car on a gloomy Sunday evening and decided to capture this simple yet meaningful shot. I decided to try something new so I applied the composition of a reflection in this shot and out came this picture.
LEMON GIRL

For my advertising assignment, I had chosen to use a product from Bath & Body Works. I decided to shoot the product with a model and go with a nature-based concept since the perfume itself is called "Sparkling Limoncello". The placement of the model in the middle was intentional as the main goal was to make her the centre of attention. To make it pop, even more, I decided to add lemons and pebbles to boost the nature concept. The choice of outfit was also intentional as she represents the flower.
DISCONNECTED

We often find ourselves spacing out from time to time; disconnecting from reality. It is a way for us to take a break from the world and venture into our thoughts. This beautiful model is seen in a world of her own while she stares blankly at the bright flame. I often wonder what goes on in that pretty little mind of hers but I guess I will never find out.
