Chew Chia Lok

Hello guys! I’m Chew Chia Lok aka Jared. I’m currently studying for a diploma in Mass Communication in IACT. Before this photography class, I had no interest in photography at all. I don’t feel like taking any pictures because I always look bad in photos. As time passes, I hate taking pictures. But photography is part of the syllabus which means I have no choice and have to do photography. No doubt and I have to admit that I learnt something through the classes even though I don’t really into taking pictures.

This is my favourite photo of all. The first reason is that I like blue and the blue in the picture is beautiful. It's like being in the deep sea. So I named this photo Under the Deep Blue Sea. The lights that reflected on her face are elegant and beautiful as well. It makes the finishing point of this photo.

Lights of the purple butterfly. As you can see from the picture, I used lights to reflect a pair of substantial purple wings behind her. Somehow it looks like a fairy in the dark.

In this picture, I used another kind of light, such as the fairy lights. It has a lot of colours, and it's very lively. Fairy lights surrounded the photo, and it helps to highlight the model in the photo.

This is my advertising assignment and the product I used is VANS. I like the minimalist style, therefore, my advertising photos are very simple yet very clear.

I used the grass as my background to highlight the shoes. It also brings out a very lively feeling of youth because VANS is mostly targeting the teenager audience.

For this photo, the minimalist style is still dominant. The background is grey in colour with a bit of natural shading under the sunlight which makes the photo more nicer.
